Voices for the future

Voices for the Future was a two year project that aimed to embed creativity and anti-racist practice in six primary schools in Haringey through teacher development. Led by Alexandra Primary School, Collage Arts and Haringey Creates.

An additional five primary schools in Haringey took part in the project: Rokesly Junior School, Earlsmead, Lancasterian, The Willow and West Green Primary school.

The partnership and collaboration explored ways in which artists and teachers can work together to develop an antiracist led, arts-based approach to teaching and learning. It also explored how this approach could help address the gap in global majority children’s attainment in Haringey. The project aimed to provide teachers with the skills and confidence to deliver inclusive arts-based learning across the curriculum.

Carbon Go Green

We produced three films as part of the 'Collage Go Green' project in 2023 exploring how local businesses work to reduce their carbon footprint.

This project was a collaboration between Collage Voices, Fashion Enter, Jacksons Lane, PramDepot, Alexandra Primary school, Park View school and St Thomas More Catholic school.

Lockdown Monlogues

The 'Lockdown Monologues' are 8 stories revealing the genuine lived experiences and insights of the Covid-19 pandemic and the Black lives matter movement. A Collage Arts Community project supported by Arts Council England

With Arts Council England funding we were able to support new writers to create monologues. These videos help to chronicle the extraordinary events of 2020

Amplify

Amplify was the collaborative effort of over 100 young musicians from across the London Borough of Haringey. Coordinated by Collage Arts of Wood Green, students were encouraged to write, perform and engineer their own tracks.

Thank you to Kevin Mark Trail and Tony Mahama for facilitating this project.

This project was made possible by Amplify: a partnership between London Music Fund and YouTube Music.

Kurdish Films

These short films were made for ESOL learners last May.

The stories have been designed to explore simple nouns like ‘clothes’ and ‘hospital’ suitable for an ESOL learner.  Screenwriter Sulin Hasso developed the initial concept to produce the heartfelt and probing narrative we see on screen.  Asking ‘how do we maintain cultural identity despite intergenerational differences?’ the series follows a mother and daughter as they grapple with their grandmother’s untimely and terminal illness.

Windrush Infomercials

Collage Arts was awarded a grant to help make raise awareness of the Windrush Compensation Scheme. The funding for the promotional work was provided by the Home Office administered by Voices for Change. Collage Arts is completely independent and will make the films in response to the need that is identified by the local community.

The reason that the Home Office is keen to work with community organisations to share information is to overcome a series of challenges, that mean that mainstream media alone is unlikely to reach the right people and get them to respond.

Haringey Feast

For Haringey Feast, Collage Arts worked with two Year 5 classes from local school Alexandra Primary to write, record and film music videos for two songs celebrating their individual talents and the borough's history of innovation and creativity.

These joyful songs were played for the Haringey Feast guests at Alexandra Palace.

Haringey Youth Festival

Every Autumn, Collage Arts in collaboration with Haringey Shed and Jacksons Lane organise the Haringey Youth Festival where  young people from across the borough come together to celebrate their talent, and the arts in general.

Always free to attend, attendees over the years have participated in a variety of workshops from different facilitators and organisations e.g. Frantic Assembly and Zoonation, including body percussion, fine art, singing, street dance, circus skills and spoken word to give them a taste of a wide range of creative possibilities  There is also a final performance from youth groups across Haringey to an audience of parents and VIPs.

The festival has taken place at Bernie Grant Arts Centre, Jacksons Lane, Collage Arts in the past.  This year it is taking place at Heartlands High School in their theatre space - we can't wait!

Powering Up

"Powering Up" was a pilot project that aims to reduce delays in accessing health and care services by addressing health inequality among young people (YP) with chronic conditions.

Focusing on two deprived urban areas, what can YP in London and Birmingham teach us about their chronic conditions to increase the effectiveness and equity of clinical contacts and reduce delays in accessing care?

“Powering Up” aims to:

  • Talk meaningfully to YP about health inequalities

  • Empower YP to take charge of their own health

  • Equip clinicians to coach YP in navigating health problems under social constraint
